Mission

The Pan American Group for Rapid Viral Diagnosis (PAGRVD) was founded in 1977 to promote rapid viral diagnosis and help raise the standards of diagnostic virology in the Americas, as the European Group for Rapid Viral Diagnosis had done in Europe.

In 1995, the name was changed to the Pan American Society for Clinical Virology (PASCV) to reflect the expanding role of the Society in all areas of clinical virology: viral pathogenesis, manifestations of disease, laboratory diagnosis, prevention, and therapy.

The primary goals of PASCV are to:

  1. Foster the development of new techniques and quality control in diagnostic virology
  2. Promote and support education and research in clinical and diagnostic virology
  3. Facilitate communication among professionals in clinical and diagnostic virology
